Is BugReel really free?
The Community edition is free and open source under the BSL (Business Source License). It includes AI analysis, smart screenshots, and Webhook + YouTrack export for up to 5 users. For Jira, Linear, and GitHub Issues integration, the Team plan starts at $8/user/month.
Where is my data stored?
BugReel is self-hosted — all data stays on your own server. Recordings, transcriptions, and reports never leave your infrastructure. You have full control over your data.
Which browsers are supported?
The BugReel Chrome extension works on all Chromium-based browsers: Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Brave, Arc, and Opera. Firefox support is on the roadmap for 2026. Safari has technical limitations with screen recording APIs.
Can I use my own OpenAI API key?
Absolutely. BugReel supports bring-your-own-key for OpenAI, and also works with any OpenAI-compatible API (Azure OpenAI, local models via Ollama, etc.). This gives you full control over costs and data privacy.
How does the AI analysis work?
BugReel records your screen and audio, then processes the recording through multiple AI stages: speech-to-text transcription, visual analysis for key frame extraction, step-by-step reproduction path generation, and severity/complexity assessment. The entire pipeline runs in minutes, not hours.
What issue trackers are supported?
The Community edition includes Webhook and YouTrack export. The Team plan ($8/user/month) adds Jira, Linear, and GitHub Issues. You can also use the webhook integration to connect to any tool with an API — Asana, ClickUp, Notion, Trello, and more.
