About BugReel
Our Mission
We believe bug reporting should take seconds, not minutes. Every developer and QA engineer knows the pain: reproduce the bug, take screenshots, write steps, estimate severity, format the ticket, paste it into the tracker. It takes 10-15 minutes for a single report.
BugReel exists to eliminate that friction. Record your screen, let AI do the rest. A complete, structured bug report — with steps to reproduce, screenshots, severity, and complexity — generated in under a minute.
The Story
BugReel started as an internal tool. We were building software and got tired of the same repetitive cycle: find a bug, spend more time documenting it than fixing it. Screen recordings captured the context perfectly, but translating a video into a structured ticket was still manual work.
So we built a tool that watches the recording and writes the report for you. What started as a quick hack turned into something the whole team relied on. We decided to open-source it so other teams could benefit too.
Open Source
BugReel is open source under the Business Source License (BSL). The core is free for teams of up to 5 users. The source code is available on GitHub — you can inspect it, modify it, and self-host it on your own infrastructure.
We believe developer tools should be transparent. You should know exactly what runs on your server and what happens to your data. With BugReel, you do.
Built by Developers, for Developers
BugReel is built and maintained by a small team of engineers who use it daily. We prioritize reliability over features, clarity over cleverness, and shipping over planning.
We are not a VC-funded startup racing to capture a market. We are developers who built a tool we needed, and we are sharing it with the community.
