Privacy Policy

Overview
BugReel is a self-hosted bug reporting tool. This means your screen recordings, transcriptions, bug reports, and all associated data are stored on your own server, not ours. We do not have access to your recordings or bug reports.
This privacy policy covers two things: the BugReel software (self-hosted) and this marketing website (bugreel.io).
What We Collect
BugReel Software (Self-Hosted)
When you run BugReel on your own server, we collect nothing. All data remains on your infrastructure. The only external communication is between your server and the AI provider you configure (e.g., OpenAI) for transcription and analysis.
If you activate a license key, a one-time validation request is sent to our licensing server. This request contains only the license key and your server's domain. No recording data, user data, or bug report content is transmitted.
This Website (bugreel.io)
For this landing site, we collect minimal, anonymous analytics data to understand page views and traffic sources. We do not collect personal information, email addresses, or create user accounts on this site.
How We Use Data
- License validation: To verify your license key is valid and active.
- Website analytics: To understand which pages are visited and improve our documentation.
- Support requests: If you contact us via email, we use your message to provide support.
Data Storage
BugReel is self-hosted by design. Your recordings, transcriptions, screenshots, bug report cards, and user accounts are stored exclusively on your server. You have full control over data retention, backups, and deletion.
We do not operate any cloud service that stores your bug report data. There is no "BugReel cloud" that your data passes through.
Third-Party Services
The BugReel software integrates with third-party services that you configure:
- OpenAI (or compatible API): Audio transcription and AI analysis are processed by the AI provider you specify in your configuration. Review your AI provider's privacy policy for how they handle API data.
- Issue trackers (Jira, Linear, GitHub, YouTrack): When you export a bug report, data is sent to the tracker you selected, using credentials you provide.
- Webhooks: If configured, bug report data is sent to the webhook URL you specify.
None of these integrations send data to BugReel. All communication is directly between your server and the third-party service.
Cookies
This website uses minimal cookies for basic functionality (e.g., remembering consent preferences). We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking.
The self-hosted BugReel application uses session cookies for authentication. These cookies are stored on your domain and controlled by your server.
Your Rights
Since BugReel is self-hosted, you have direct control over all your data. You can view, export, modify, or delete any data at any time through your server's database and file system.
For any data we may hold (e.g., support emails, license records), you have the right to:
- Request access to your data
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Withdraw consent at any time
